Saturday Skin Care: Kosmea Daily Facial Exfoliant

Kosmea kindly sent me this product to try a few weeks ago, which was very exciting for me because I have loved Kosmea products for a long time. Their Rose Hip Oil is worth it’s weight in gold and is a cult favourite here in Australia.

Description from the Kosmea website:
An instant effect face-recharger! Lifts off dirt, make-up and dead skin cells to reveal a more radiant you.

This deep cleansing scrub gently exfoliates the skin with a combination of crushed rose hips and soothing chamomile flowers. Working together, these two ingredients refine and polish the skin without stripping it of its protective barrier. Organic rose hip oil, rice flour and shea butter ensure that skin is left moisturised and nourished. The result is a radiant looking complexion with that all-important healthy glow.

Rich in kaolin clay, Daily Facial Exfoliant also doubles as a detoxifying facial treatment mask when left on the skin for 10 minutes or more.

Price: 39.95 for 125g/4.41oz
Availability: online at http://www.kosmea.com/, David Jones. For other stockists check website.

I’ve been using this exfoliant for the past couple of weeks now on a daily basis (I would consider this as a mildly exfoliating face wash more than a traditional exfoliant that you would use twice a week). It has a creamy base with crushed rose hips and camomile flowers acting as the mild exfoliating particles. After the first use, my skin felt lovely and soft. A week later and my skin is looking and feeling quite good- skin tone more even, pores less visible, and there is that lovely glow.
The one drawback about this product that is hard to ignore is the smell. It has a very strong herbal scent which reminds me of the chinese medicine I unhappily consumed as a child. I would recommend that those with sensitive noses check this out in person before purchasing.
At the end of the day, I still think that pure, effective ingredients are more important than the scent of a product.

Pros:

+ leaves skin super soft after use. I keep getting tempted to touch my face and make cooing sounds.
+ improves texture and look of skin.

+ It’s like a face wash, exfoliant, and mask combined which is great when you’re travelling because you won’t have to pack three products.

+ No parabens, sodium laureth sulfate, petrochemicals. not tested on animals.

Cons:

- the smell. This is my main issue with the product.

- if you’re looking for a deep exfoliant that you would use 1-2x weekly this is not it.

note: this product was sent by PR for consideration.
