Saturday Skin Care: Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant

If you saw my post a couple of days ago on Alpha H Essential Hydration Cream, you’d know that my skin is not in the best state at the moment. So instead of soldiering on with further product testing (PR samples are starting to pile up) I’ve decided to go back to my tried and true skin care routine until my skin bounces back.
A long time favourite product of mine is Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant.

Price: RRP $36.95 AUD for 75mL
Availability: Myers, selected pharmacies, or online at,

This is my HG exfoliant, and I could not live without this product. It feels so so good when massaged on the face, and when you take it off my skin always feels amazing- baby soft, glowy, and almost poreless.

My pet peeve is exfoliants with sharp particles which scratch my skin, but don’t have enough density to do a thorough job (kinda like rubbing two grains of sand on your face). This exfoliant is thick, and has a high density of reasonably gentle particles so it feels like the dead skin is being effectively sloughed off without scratching your face.

As with all Trilogy products, I trust their ingredients. There are no synthetic fillers to make the product texture ‘feel good’ (like propylene glycol or silicones), just things that work.

+ Does what a good exfoliant should do- help treatments sink in better after use, gives skin a lovely glow, refines skin, clear up congestion.

+ Gentle enough for sensitive skin, yet gives a very effective exfoliation. Does not dry out skin.

+ Can be left on as a masque- the Kaolin Clay draws out impurities from pores.

+ Has some great effective ingredients like Kaolin Clay, Rosehip seed oil, honey, and Jojoba oil.

+ Free from nasties such as Propylene Glycol, Parabens, Pthalates, Petrochemicals, etc.

+ not tested on animals.

+ At $36.96 it is priced higher than other brands you would find at the pharmacy.

+ Might be too gentle if you want a more a ‘scrubby’ kinda exfoliant with more gritty particles.

Ingredients: Aqua (Purified Spring Water), Kaolin Clay, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Glycerol Stearate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Zinc Oxide, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Camellia Sinensis (Camellia) Oil, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract (and) Gl, Mel (Honey), Macadamia Ternafolia (Macadamia Nut) Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Parfum, Geraniol, Citronellol, Linalool, *Components of Natural Essential Oils
