Lancome Ombre Absolue Erika F: review and swatches

Lancome Ombre Absolue Radiant Smoothing Eye Shadow in Erika F (G40) has been a cult item in the beauty world for a long time. The fact that it is not available in the US only increases it’s desirability and mythical status.

Colour:
A complex platinum taupe with hints of khaki, blue, brown, and a shimmery wet look that is very difficult to capture on camera. The beautiful fine silver glimmers in the shadow look sophisticated and never over the top.
Texture:
It is reasonably smooth and moderately pigmented. I do find that I have to add 2-3 layers of the shadow with a stiff brush for it to show up in it’s full glory (I added 3 layers in my previous Chanel 2011 inspired FOTD feat Erika F)
 Price: $44.00 in Australia
Availability: Lancome counters in Myer (Australia). This eye shadow is also available in European countries, but I don’t really know the details. It is, or has, been available in the Color Focus single eye shadow form so I’m not sure whether Erika F is being sold as a Color Focus shadow in some countries.
note: if you know more about availability in your country please let me know in the comments! Sharing is caring :)

Possible dupes:
For all the readers who can’t easily get their hands on this beauty, there are a few eye shadows that I feel are similar.
1. Shu Uemura ME Olive 471 (review and swatches here)- a little darker in colour, and more green and metallic.
2. Ameli eye shadow in ‘French Chic’- also a platinum greenish taupe but more metallic, and does not have the fine glimmers that give the ‘wet’ look. (review and swatches here )
