Ellis Faas loves your lips: L101 and L307 review and swatches

Human Colours®
Ellis Faas based the whole collection of her brand on the colours that by nature exist in every human body. From all tones of foundation to every lipstick and eyeshadow, the shades are inspired by the human body’s owns colours.
From the tawny peach of a freckle to the pure, vivid red that pulses through our veins, the ELLIS FAAS Human Colours collection looks to the human palette for inspiration. The colours that exist naturally in our bodies are complex and rich, but they’re also universal, shared by each and every one of us. Based on this universal spectrum, ELLIS FAAS Human Colours complement all skin tones, and when it comes to looking one’s best, what better way to highlight a great feature or mask an imperfection than with tones and hues that already exist in each of us?

I’ve always been fascinated by the Ellis Faas concept, and after some glowing reviews I’ve read recently (Sarah Hassan’s blog,  Dempeaux, Witoxicity), I decided that I had to get my greedy little hands on some Ellis goodness!
Being a lip product fiend, I chose two lippies (it was an agonising decision, especially with the gorgeous reds available): The L101 (aka Ellis Red) in their ‘Creamy Lips’ range, and the L307 in their ‘Glazed Lips’ range.

Ellis Faas products are packaged in bullet inspired pen dispensers which look and feel incredibly swanky. To get to the product you turn the base of the pen, and you’ll hear the dispenser click as it pushes the product out. In the creamy lips range, the tip of the pen is an oval pad, whereas in the glazed lips range there is a brush tip.
My only concern with this style of dispenser is it’s difficult to keep hygienic if you keep the lippy for a while- does anyone know how I might be able to clean the tip?

Glazed lips L307
-The L101 ‘Ellis Red’ is a perfect blood red which deepens oh so beautifully with every layer you apply. I used it in my Geisha FOTD
-The L307 is a bright coral.  This looks totally different on me compared with how it looked on the Ellis Faas online swatch (dusty rose coral) so be aware that it probably looks different depending on your natural lip colour.
The L101 is in the ‘Creamy lips’ range, which I would describe as a liquid lipstick/ lip stain hybrid. It is non drying,  applies very smoothly and does not cling to dry areas or accentuate lip lines like some lip stains can.
The L307 is from the ‘Glazed lips’ range. It is basically a pigmented gloss which I find similar to the texture of the Hourglass lip glosses- non sticky, hydrating, and kinda ‘cushiony’ if that makes sense.  I wouldn’t call it super shiny, which is fine by me.

Price and availability

$52AUD at Mecca Cosmetica (Australia)  and $35 USD at www.ellisfaas.com

I purchased my Ellis Faas lippies on their website, and the shipping was only $7.50USD!!!! I thought that there was some sort of mistake, but it’s true.

And I thought I was the sensible one. Tanhks for setting me straight.

  2. I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.

Boxing Day is a time for self indulgence after the crazy present shopping, food preparation and travel up to and on Christmas Day.So it's eating any leftovers in reverse order, such as dessert for breakfast, reading my pile of unread magazines and new books given for Christmas. We may have a potluck leftover gehgeo-ttter with friends then catching a new movie at night.
