Enriched with superior skin conditioners and antioxidants, this emollient balm soothes and relieves dry, chapped, irritated lips. Unlike waxy sticks, it penetrates quickly to provide instant relief. Offers broad-spectrum sun protection with an SPF of 25; also guards against windburn and temperature extremes. Contains natural mint to help freshen breath. Fragrance-free. Colorant-free. Dermatologist tested. [product description from Jack Black website]

I find it amusing that the BEST LIP BALM I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS was designed for men.
Jack Black Intense Lip Therapy is some seriously amazing stuff. If you’ve read my previous lip balm posts you’d know all about how much I struggle with dry lips and how frustrating it is that balms that seem to do the job for other girls just didn’t seem to work for my lips. This balm was recommended to me by the ridiculously gorgeous Holly (of Beatideas.)
This lip balm is intensely hydrating, and seems to ‘penetrate’ the skin rather than just sitting on my lip surface- so that even after the balm has worn off, my lips feel healthier and softer. It stays on my lips for a decent amount of time (a good hour or so) before I need to reapply.
There is a minty scent, and a cooling tingling sensation with this balm which I now find quite pleasant.
Jack Black Intense Lip Therapy is conveniently packaged in a small squeeze tube, and the texture of the lip balm is halfway between ointment and gel so it spreads easily even on bitterly cold mornings.
Another important advantage of this balm is that it has SPF 25, which is more SPF than found in the majority of lip balms. And of course, as the title of this post suggests- it is petrolatum free.
I purchased this tube from Sephora.com through a mail forwarding service, and have ordered a few backups in the original mint flavour- as well as their new flavours Grapefruit and Ginger, Black Tea and Blackberry.
full ingredient list:
active ingredients: Octinaxate 7.5%, Avobenzone 3.0%
other ingredients: Natural mint flavour, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Persea Gratissima (Avocado Oil), Camellia Sinesis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E)Posted by myfunnyvalentine on Jun 29th, 2011 in Lip balm, Petrolatum Detox, Reviews | 7120 comments. At the age of 26, I still get incredibly excited at the prospect of seeing snow.
Growing up in Sydney, the only snow I had seen were at ski resorts (most of which came from a snow machine. sigh.) and for as long as I can remember I’ve always fantasized about waking up to a big snowfall.
So, you can imagine my little squeal of delight when it started snowing last tuesday afternoon, when I was working at one of our practices. I ran outside and took some videos on my camera (don’t laugh, Canadian readers) and basically behaved like a little girl until I had to compose myself for my next patient.
The magic was slighted tarnished when I found out that the road home was closed until the next day at the very least due to snow, but I’m really not complaining.Posted by myfunnyvalentine on Jun 28th, 2011 in Uncategorized | 6110 comments. Is there anything that Tom Ford can’t do? Within a year of his critically acclaimed and so-stylish-it-hurts feature film ‘A Single Man’, Mr Ford launches his line of lipsticks that would rival the luxury and cult status of Chanel and Guerlain lip products.
I was fortunate enough to be given a chance to review two of the twelve lipsticks from the Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Colour range.
Everything about the Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Colors reminds you that you are holding a luxury item. The weight of the lipstick in your palm, the stylish gold and ivory, the sophisticated and satisfying ‘click’ when you replace the cap, and of course the TF embossed onto the lipstick itself.
Bruised Plum- A cool toned plum- merlot colour. The colour deepens significantly with a second layer.
Cherry Lush- Cool toned red which leans towards fuschia. I’ve noticed that with one layer the colour appears more fuschia, and with the second layer it warms up a little, becoming more of a cool toned red.

As I was saying in my Urban Decay Naked Palette review, this palette is incredibly versatile and will take you from your coffee date, to night time festivities without breaking into sweat.
In this face of the day, I used the darker colours on the right side of the palette to create a night time Naked Palette look. Enjoy!
note: this smoky eye makeup look also works with Asian eye shapes- monolids and hooded lids. I find that the blue undertone of ‘Gunmetal’ from the Naked palette really accentuates the warmth in brown and hazel eyes.
