Shine On You Crazy Mojito Diamond! Malin + Goetz Mojito lip balm review

Malin and Goetz Mojito lip balm

Malin and Goetz Mojito lip balm

Food for thought- since lip balms can often be shiny, and lip glosses are often moisturising, how does one decide whether to call a specific product a lip balm or a lip gloss?  And why has there not been a Royal Commission assembled to look into this pressing issue? Yup, you’re seeing my philosophical side :p

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm is a mystery to me. It is DAMN glossy (in fact it outshines many of my lip glosses), and actually pretty meh when it comes to moisturising the lips. I mean, if it wasn’t for the name on the tube I would have totes mistaken this for a gloss.

The Malin + Goetz Mojito lip balm has a totally non-sticky gel like texture which is quite similar to the Ellis Faas Glazed Lips L309 (reviewed here). It feels and looks fab on the lips, but doesn’t really do anything for my lips in terms of hydration.

Still well worth checking out for the high shine; delish minty, lime, mojito scent; and the oh so hip packaging.

Has anyone tried this? I hear that Malin + Goetz also has a ‘lip moisturiser’ which is available at Mecca Cosmetica but I haven’t seen it in person- I wonder if it’s any more moisturising than the Mojito balm?

I got this from Urban Outfitters for $12.

Full ingredient list: Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Butylene/ethylene/styrene copolymer, Ethylene/Propylene/ Styrene copolymer, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tricaprylin, Phenoxyethanol, Bisabolol, Fragrance.
