Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream review
Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream

Enjoy the silky, mousse-like texture of this cleanser whilst your skin enjoys the results: a smoother, more refined and instantly brighter complexion. Active fruit enzymes from Papaya and Pineapple gently polish skin, removing the build up of old skin cells and impurities that can dull your complexion. Licorice and Mulberry extracts brighten and refine your skin tone, while pure plant oils Jojoba, Sunflower and Vitamin E help to nourish and soothe, leaving skin perfectly primed for maximum serum and moisturiser absorption. In my opinion, exfoliation is a very important part of any anti-aging skin care regime, and I’m a big believer in mixing exfoliation methods for best results on the skin. So I would normally use a physical exfoliant (ie. my Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant) 2x a week and a chemical exfoliant (e.g. MD Formulations 10% Glycolic cleaser) once a week.

Until now I haven’t tried an enzyme exfoliant, so when the new Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream came out on the 1st of July I was pretty stoked to be given a chance to trial it.

Trilogy’s Age Proof range seems to be their more upmarket range- the packaging as well as the feel of their product are more luxe, and, as the name suggests, the products in this range boast anti aging actives as well as the usual botanicals in their regular range.

The Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream is a silky, almost mousse- like cream consistency and feels really good when massaged into the skin. It rinses clean leaving my skin feeling touchably soft and refined. I did not experience any stinging or redness after daily use (although I did pare down my usual exfoliation regime whilst using this) so I would say that this is a nice AHA alternative for sensitive skin.

Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream

Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream swatched.

It gently exfoliates to some extent but I did feel the need for a physical exfoliant about twice a week to do remove the more resistant dead skin buildup. Although it does contain licorice and mulberry extracts which are ingredients known to lighten skin through inhibition of melanin production, I did not notice any lightening from this product- most probably because the extracts are only in contact with the skin for a short period of time. Perhaps used in the long term a brightening/lightening effect might become more obvious but at this point it’s difficult to say.

Have you used an enzyme exfoliating product before? Likes/dislikes? I’d love to know!
