Clinique Chubby Sticks Fuller Fig and Graped Up

There’s something about wielding lip balm in the form of a giant crayon that irresistibly appeals to the little kid in me. I think the folks at Clinique played their psychology right for people like me who are a sucker for packaging.

Review

Colour:

Fuller Fig is a deep rose brown with surprisingly good pigmentation  for a tinted balm (medium and buildable coverage). A really flattering colour for both warm and cool skin tones and a perfect ‘my lips but better’ colour for Fall. LOVE this.

Graped Up is a neutral brown shade, with sheer to medium coverage. Although it looks quite similar to Fuller Fig when swatched I find that Graped Up looks a bit flat against my skin tone (maybe cooler skin tones would suit this better). I don’t reach for this colour nearly as much as I do Fuller Fig.

Texture and performance:

The Clinique Chubby Sticks have quite a thin consistency on the lips with a little bit of balminess and ‘slip’. This makes it lightweight and very comfortable but also means that the product wears off quite quickly- normally I get about 30mins of wear before I need to reapply.

Final thoughts:

A fun lip product which combines colour with a bit of lip treatment on the side. Pigmentation is quite impressive for a tinted lip balm, and packaging is luxe, but I do wish that it lasts a little longer on the lips given the $35 price tag in Australia.

I gave in to fuller fig and am really impressed. This can go with any coloring, it layers well for a deeper tone if you are looking for that. Pair it with black mascara and some shimmery eyeshadow and you’re set for a full day with no touch-ups. The package is smaller than I would like for that $ but it seems to last about 4 months with regular use. The lighter shades really fade out and that just seems like a waste of $ for a chapstick basically. The cherry turns a odd pink on my lips, over time which caused me to discontinue using it. Graped up is just flat, the raisen is good but better for darker skin tone. Whole lot of honey is nice but a gloss would last longer and be just as moisturizing. I think this is the best shade over all.
