When the NARS Fall 2011 collection came out, I was very excited to see NARS do a wearable pink eyeshadow. Finally, a pink that doesn’t make me look like 1. I’ve been crying all night or 2. Christina Aguilera.
I’m also a sucker for names. This Nars eyeshadow duo is named after the Grand Palais in Paris, a Beaux-Arts architectural masterpiece that was built for the Paris World Fair at the turn of the century. Brings back so many great memories of my trip there years ago!
Needless to say, I couldn’t say no to NARS Grand Palais.
Price: $72 AUD (AU RPP) $33 USD (US RPP)
Availability: Mecca Cosmetica (Australia), NARS Counters worldwide
Colour:
The left side of the NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo is a silvery taupe with soft shimmer. Although most reviewers have said that this is very pigmented I actually find that on my skin it’s actually on the sheer side (which is why I like to use this shadow wet).
The right side is a moderately pigmented matte deep rose with a hint of terracotta. Both very unique, but also very flattering shades.
Texture:
The silvery taupe is buttery smooth and has an amazing silky appearance on the lid. The matte dusty rose is slightly powdery and takes a little more effort to blend compared with the left side (on par with the original MAC matte eyeshadows, and not as buttery as Inglot mattes).
Performance:
Both shadows last well on the eyes on top of my UDPP and showed very little creasing and fading.
I haven’t tried this yet, but you could probably use the matte rose shadow as a blusher.
Keep reading after the jump!
