Rouge Bunny Rouge is a niche London-Moscow based brand that I had been wanting to try for the longest time. It is a cult favourite in the beauty blogosphere due to the incredible pigmentation of its products, luxurious texture, and its romantic ”Victorian-style fairy tale and Tsarist aristocratic” styling.

I had read about their legendary buttery smooth eye shadows in a number of blogs (Dempeaux, Modesty Brown ,  London Makeup Girl, and others) so I jumped at the opportunity when Zuneta had free international shipping a month or so ago.

I picked up the Rouge Bunny Rouge Long-lasting Eyeshadows in Abyssinian Catbird, and Bejewelled Skylark (along with a couple of other RBR things- see this haul post)

Price: £ 22.00

Availability: www.zuneta.com shipping to Australia is £15 and is free if you spend over £ 100

Colour

Abyssinian Catbird: metallic deep golden olive.

Bejewelled Skylark: metallic rich rusty brown colour.

When I use these on my lids, I like doing a dry blended layer and then using a damp brush to ‘foil’ the shadow for extra intensity.

 Texture:

They both live up to their legend. Ridiculously buttery smooth and silky, they are a dream to blend both dry AND wet.

Performance:

They both look fantastic on the lids, and blend well with other shadows. I did not notice any fallout with these.

Do they live up to their name in terms of longevity? Unfortunately not on me. It lasts just under average for powder eyeshadows on my oily lids (but keep in mind that my lids are slippery bastards). I’ve adapted pretty well, and I always bring the eyeshadows I use with me to touch up halfway through the day- that always does the trick.

[edit: from the comments both here and on twitter, it seems that I'm the only one who has had issues with the lasting power of these RBR shadows (even people with oily lids have found the lasting power quite good with these). Chances are, even if you have oily lids, these might still perform well on you.  I'm going to experiment with different primers and hopefully get a better result. ]
