It was decided by our international group of Lipstick Bandits that this instalment was going to be all about Summer brights and corals.
It’s somewhat amusing that I’m writing this post in late autumn, sitting in bed wearing two scarves, long johns, and sharing a hot water bottle with Dizzy. This is my little glimpse of warm weather, which I’m quite enjoying!
Eyes:
- Two Faced Shadow Insurance to prime lids
- NARS Grand Palais Duo (dusty pink side) on mobile lid past the crease. (review and swatches here)
- MAC Embark eyeshadow to darken outer V and smudged under bottom lashline.
- Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Espresso Ink to line upper lashline and lower waterline
- Majorca Majolica Lash Expander Plus mascara
- Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Champagne to highlight inner corners and cupid’s bow.
Cheeks:
- MAC Golden Bronzer to contour
- MAC Peachy blush
Lips:
- Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet ‘La Ravissante’
Make sure to check out the other corals we’ve picked for you- I can’t wait to be able to click through to the other Lipstick Bandits posts later on.

Hello!
I wore this to work the other day and I quite liked the effect of pairing a warm peachy brown base (Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes E106) with a cooler gold taupe (Fyrinnae Beholder eye shadow). I’ve also really been enjoying using a dark brown gel liner to create a softer day time smoky eye lately, and Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Espresso Ink is probably the best dark brown liner I’ve used.
You have no idea how long I’ve been looking for a deep dark neutral brown liner that stays on my waterline and doesn’t have any shimmer/ bronzey tones/ red tones (MAC Teddy Eye Khol is more of a bronze, MAC Costa Riche liner has a reddish undertone which makes me look ill, MAC Dip Down Fluidline is not dark enough, my Stila Smudge Pot in Brown dried up so quickly and was unusable after a few weeks, and Urban Decay Whiskey pencil doesn’t stay on my waterline for more than 5 minutes). So as you might imagine it was a happy day when I first came across the Bobbi Brown Espresso Ink liner.
keep reading after the jump!

Pratima is a New York based skin care company with roots in Ayuverdic medicine, and their Neem Rose sunscreen is a popular product among sunscreen fanatics. Pratima only ships within the U.S. , but I really wanted to try it for my sunscreen review series-so I ended up getting it parcel forwarded along with a Sephora purchase. I’m glad I tried this because it’s one of the most elegantly formulated Zinc Oxide sunscreens I’ve used.
price: $18.00 2fl oz/60ml
availability: www.pratimaskincare.com
The Pratima Neem Rose Sunscreen has 18.6% micronised Zinc Oxide which gives good UVA and UVB protection and excellent photostability (doesn’t easily break down in presence of UV light). Not the highest % of Zinc Oxide out there (Marie Veronique Moisturising Face Screen, Soleo Organic and Invisible Zinc have 20- 22.4% ) , but 18.6% is still reasonable.
The Pratima only use physical blockers (staying clear of chemical filters) and does not contain petrochemicals, parabens, or photosensitizing agents (like Vitamin A derivatives and citrus family essential oils).
note: not sure about the difference between chemical and physical, UVA and UVB, and what SPF really means? go to my Sunscreen Lowdown Part 1.
The majority of physical sunblocks available are either greasy and heavy, or heavy and drying; Pratima is none of those things. The Pratima Rose Sunscreen is lightly moisturising with a creamy, lotiony texture and probably the most elegant formulation I’ve come across. It goes on silky and after application there is no greasiness on the skin, no shine, and no tackiness (which is BurnOut Physical Ocean Tested Sunscreen‘s achilles heel).
The Pratima Neem Rose sunscreen has virtually no white cast, much like the BurnOut sunscreens.
This sunscreen doesn’t seem last long on the face when you’re exercising, so it’s more of an everyday sunscreen rather than a sports sunscreen.
Ingredients list:
| IONIZED WATER, NON-NANO MICRONIZED ZINC OXIDE 18.6%, ORGANIC EXTRACTS OF NEEM, BRAHMI, SHATAVARI, LICORICE, VITAMIN E, LECITHIN, ORGANIC ESSENTIAL OIL OF ROSE, XANTHAN GUM. |
