Review: Ghd V Gold Series Rich Ruby Styler vs ghd IV

Ghd V Gold Series Rich Ruby Styler

I’ve had my beloved ghd IV Styler for over 4 years now, and it comes with me everywhere.

I use it for both curling and straightening, and ever since I got it I ditched my old curling wand because (once I figured out how to use it properly), I found that the ghd did a better job of creating curls that lasted for days.

Recently I was given the opportunity to review the ‘Rich Ruby’ Styler from the ghd limited edition metallic collection (which is a ghd Gold Series Classic Styler in a limited edition colour).I expected it to perform exactly the same as my own ghd IV styler, and was a little taken aback by how much smoother it glided over my hair and how much better my curls looked. I found my curls lasted longer too (day 3 and still going).

I’ve since found out that the Gold Series Stylers used better plate technology, and a more premium surface quality compared with the ghd IV stylers (more details further down). This is why there is a price difference between the two, and if I had to choose I would probably invest in the Gold Series Styler.
