Salon Melbourne is an annual beauty and hair trade show held over 2 days. This year, it took place on the 14th and 15th of April, and I was fortunate to be invited to provide media coverage for the event. It’s similar in many ways to IMATS (International Make-Up Artist Trade Show), except that it’s an industry only event.
I had a fantastic time learning things from the experts and seeing some of my favourite brands on the floor.
There was some pretty inspiring demonstrations of special effects makeup. I think the guy in my photo above was in the process of being turned into a zombie.
At any given moment, there was something happening on each of stages. I loved the male hair cut and style demonstration (pictured above), and may have drooled a little onto my lanyard when they smiled for my photo.

I took advantage of the trade discount that applied at Salon Melbourne- I picked up a Make Up For Ever HD blush, some lashes from Lash Republic, and some DUO eyelash adhesive.
Also picked up a few Zoya nail polishes. I hadn’t tried Zoya before, I held back on buying too many bottles. Now I’m kicking myself for not getting more of these at the 50% off discounted rate, because I absolutely LOVE them. Expect some Nail Of The Day posts soon!
I still find it hilarious that on my media pass for Salon Melbourne, they labelled my blog as ‘My Family Valentine’- possibly an idea for a Mummy blogger offshoot of My Funny Valentine? Norlin of Baubles, Bubbles, and Bags offered to loan her kids for that purpose (the kids were getting very bored during school holidays at that time so I think she may have been only half joking)Posted by myfunnyvalentine on Apr 22nd, 2013 in Uncategorized | 72220 comments.
