These are a few of my favourite things: Winter 2013

Blog images July

It’s been awhile since I did a ‘favourites’ post (could it really be since March 2012?), so I thought I would share some products that I’ve been loving over the past few months.

In the past month or so I’ve been pretty lazy with makeup- minimal eye makeup with a focus on lips. In winter, every extra minute in bed is worth it’s weight in gold.

These are the lip products that I have been on high rotation. I absolutely love all of them, and really am kicking myself for not getting a backup of the sadly discontinued Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in Dragon.

Glasshouse Montego Bay Triple Scented Candle

Glasshouse Montego Bay Triple Scented Candle*

After we settled in to the apartment, I thought it would be nice to have some home fragrances to give the place a bit of atmosphere. I know very little about scented candles and all the previous ones I’ve tried have had a fairly weak scent so I consulted my brains trust- aka Twitter  – for recommendations.

Quite a few of you recommended Glasshouse candles for their beautiful destination scents and great scent strength. Glasshouse contacted me later that night and kindly offered to send me a candle of my choice- I chose Montego Bay because I love both coconut and citrus scents.

I’ve been burning this almost daily for the past couple of weeks, and love how the fragrance easily fills the room and lingers for an hour afterwards. The fragrance is a gourmand scent lover’s paradise.

Weleda Arnica Massage Oil Echolife bath salts

I’ve really been enjoying my new Weleda Arnica Massage Oil and Echolife Magnesium Bath Crystals* for helping out with sore muscles, stress, and whingey boyfriends. It works MIRACLES on the dreaded Man Flu- they should apply for TGA and FDA approval.

A'kin Rose and Geranium Creamy Cleanser and Toner in One, A'kin Pure Alchemy Cellular Radiance Serum

A’kin Rose and Geranium Creamy Cleanser and Toner in One *

After trialling a number of sulphate free cleansers for my Sulphate Free Skincare series, the one that I keep coming back to is the A’kin Rose and Geranium Creamy Cleanser and Toner in One. My favourite cleanser for winter so far- wonderfully moisturising but not too heavy like some of the other cream cleansers I’ve trialled in the series.

($29.95 for 225mL)

A’kin  Pure Alchemy Cellular Radiance Serum*

I’ve been using this since my birthday in March (sent by the lovely Sabine as a birthday gift), and it has quickly become one of my favourite facial oil serums. I still haven’t gotten around to properly reviewing this, but it works magic on dehydrated winter skin. I like to alternate this with rose hip oil after moisturising at night.  Key ingredients include amaranth extract, calendula extract, chamomile extract, pomegranate extract, seabuckthorn extract, echium extract, and vitamin E. Reviewing this soon, I promise!

($44.95 for 23mL)

Both A’kin products are available at selected pharmacies, health food stores, and

  1. Hey! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any problems with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months of hard work due to no data backup. Do you have any methods to stop hackers?

Thank you for every other great article. Where else may anyone get that type of information in such an ideal approach of writing? I have a presentation subsequent week, and I am on the search for such info.
