Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage Eyeshadow Quad: Review and Swatches

Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage Eyeshadow Quad: Review and Swatches

After reading Karima’s glowing review of this quad, I was sold.

The shades in Cocoa Mirage are fairly basic, staple shades that many people will already own- I have plenty of eyeshadows that are more or less the same colour and finish as the ones here; However, the beauty of this quad is that the eyeshadows have the most amazing silky texture that blends like a dream, and the lasting power is OUT OF THIS WORLD. So the quad gives me my most used colours in a great formula.

Not cheap, of course (100AUD/70USD), but it is good value given that I have been using this every single day- and I imagine I will continue using this almost daily into the future. A travel bag dream.

I have already used this in several FOTD posts that are scheduled for the coming weeks, so keep an eye out if you want to see this in action.

Cocoa Mirage Quad shades

Clockwise from top left on quad:

1. Matte warm white: it’s sheer, but still has a very noticeable brightening effect on the eye when used as a highlight. I’m not usually a fan of white eyeshadows because they tend to disappear on the skin moments after application- but this one lasts all day! Incredible.

2. Matte camel brown: Similar in colour and finish to one of my most used MAC eyeshadows of all time- MAC Cork. So why am I excited to have almost exactly the same colour? The amazing silky texture which makes uneven application completely impossible (I challenge you to try), and the amazing wear time. Cork is pretty good in both wear time and texture, but the Tom Ford blows it out of  the water.

3. Matte dark neutral brown: another basic colour that have lots of dupes for in my collection, but has outstanding wear time and texture.

4. Satin finish burgundy brown: I was hoping that this one would be a little more buttery and pigmented (like the RBR eyeshadow in Bejewelled Skylark  which is a similar shade). In the scheme of things, the texture is not bad, but it does take a little more effort to get even application compared with the other three shadows in the quad. On the plus side- wear time is outstanding, significantly better than the RBR Bejewelled Skylark.
