Face of Australia Lip Paint: Review and Swatches

Face of Australia Lip Paint: Review and Swatches

I was expecting something along the lines of the OCC Lip Tars when I first saw the press release on the limited edition Lip Paints, but it is quite a different product. Rather than a opaque liquid lipstick, the Lip Paints are a non- sticky gloss stain with a cushiony jellyish texture that reminds me a little of the Becca Ultimate Colour Glosses. Face Of Australia has done well with these Lip Paints, and I hope that they make this  line permanent.

Except for Nude Nymph, all the shades will leave a stain, which prolongs the wear time of the product. The glossiness fades after an hour or so, but the stain lingers longer- the darkest shade, Very Berry, leaves a gorgeous deep wine coloured stain that lasts for around 4 hours. The product wears off evenly, and the stain left behind when the gloss fades is soft and diffuse.

From left:

Nude Nymph:  pale skin tone/taupe

Pretty in Pink:  bubble gum pink

Fired up Fuschia:  Intense pink fuschia

Tangerine Queen:  bright tangerine orange

Poison Apple: cherry red.

Very Berry: Dark mauve wine

Price: $6.95/15mL

My picks out of this range will probably come as no surprise to anyone follows this blog- I adore Very Berry and Tangerine Queen. Those colours are grown up and chic- but also so much fun. The pinks in the line are lovely but would suit cooler tones much better than my olive skin tone. The one shade in the Lip Paint line that I found problematic is Nude Nymph- it looks gorgeous for half and hour then the product gathers on the inner part of the lip and makes me look like I’ve messily eaten a spoonful of cream. Apart from Nude Nymph, the Lip Paints are spectacularly formulated, especially considering it’s price point!
