NARS Gabon Hardwired Eyeshadow Review and FOTD

NARS Gabon Eyeshadow Review-5 NARS Gabon Hardwired Eyeshadow Review and FOTD

I haven’t been keeping up with the holiday collections at all lately (let’s face it- I’ve never been good at that), so when I had a look/swatch at the NARS stand over the weekend, it was the first time I had seen any of the ‘Laced With Edge’  holiday 2014 collection. When I swatched Gabon, it was instant love.

NARS says.. ” A new formulation in limited edition shades, created exclusively for the NARS LACED WITH EDGE Holiday Color Collection, Hardwired Eyeshadow redesigns NARS’ iconic powdered pigments with intense iridescence for a new feminine dimension.”

Gabon is a powder eyeshadow with a dark greyish khaki base, a metallic olive sheen,  and some gold micro glitter that looks beautiful when it catches the light. I found it difficult to capture the complexity of Gabon with the available lighting in my apartment, so you’ll just need to use your imagination here.

Pigmentation is excellent, and Gabon applies fairly easily onto the lid – it’s not quite as buttery as the shadows in Surabaya Duo, but softer than many of NARS’ other offerings (e.g. the rose colour in  Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo, and the dark colour in NARS Dogon Eyeshadow Duo) .  The gold microshimmer disappears a little after blending, so I like to pat a little bit more product with a flat brush right at the end.

Longevity is about average for a powder eyeshadow on my oily lids, and crease resistance is above average. Slight fading after about 4 hrs, noticable fading after 6hours; slight creasing at 6-8 hours.
