From start to finish, primer to powder, The One Perfecting Brush can be used with liquids, crèmes, powders and anything in between. Non-porous, high-quality goat hair allows product to sit on top of bristles rather than absorbing, ensuring a seamless application with no wasted product.

When I first got the press release for The One Perfecting Brush, I must admit I was a bit sceptical. I found it difficult to believe that a brush that you use for your base, contouring, highlighting, and blush from start to finish could possibly work without leaving your face a complete shiny oompa loompa burnt mess.
But somehow, The One Perfecting Brush seems to defy logic. I’ve been successfully using the one brush to buff liquid foundation into the skin, contour with bronzer with long edge of the brush, highlight my cheekbones, and apply blush – and all the colours come out true and unmuddled (is that a word?). Becca says that the type of non-porous goat hair that is used doesn’t absorb the product, allowing for multiple uses.
I still think it’s black magic.
Becca claims that you can use this brush daily for 2 weeks before washing! I’ve tried using this three days in a row (mostly with liquid/cream products) with a quick wipe of the bristles with a paper towel between uses, and remarkably, my foundation does not come out orange on day three! I haven’t tried using it more than 3 times without washing, because the idea kinda grosses me out.
For the makeup look pictured above, I’ve used the One Perfecting Brush to apply liquid foundation (BECCA Radiant Skin Satin Foundation), bronzer (MAC Bronzing Powder), a small amount of champagne powder eyeshadow to highlight the nose bridge and cupids bow, and liquid blush (BECCA Beach Tint in Guava). For the liquid products I first buffed it into the back of my hand before apply to the face. BECCA has published a demo video here if you want to see the brush in action.
The goat hair bristles are dense and super soft. I love how even and ‘airbrushed’ my foundation looks after buffing it in with this brush, and how perfectly glowy my blush comes out.. I would suggest either keeping to liquid/creams from start to finish, or powder products- you can certainly mix it up if you wish, but I find the application isn’t quite as seamless (I noticed this when I used powder bronzer).
Contouring takes a little bit of practice with this brush, but after a few goes you can carve out a cheekbone reasonably well (I like to use the long edge of the brush to contour).

The Sacred Hour is the time to release your inner warrior. Embrace new beginnings at daybreak and re-stoke the fire in your heart as the sun sets. Breathe in the elements, enhance your features, and express yourself. Find your courage, wisdom and power within.
Another incredibly sexy collection by Illamasqua, and one of my favourites this year. I love the medieval feel of the collection, and I’m digging the distinct looks for the ‘Dawn Spirit’ and ‘Dusk Warrior’ – representing the two ‘sacred’ hours of the day. Illamasqua has a great short film that you should check out for an in depth look at the imagery and mood for the collection.

For Fall 2013, Chanel released a line of 6 cream blushes called Le Blush Creme De Chanel- you might remember seeing Peter Phillips use the shade Inspiration on the models in the stunning Chanel Fall 2013 RTW show (image below).
After reading rave reviews on the blogosphere, I decided to pick up one of these for myself- in the shade Destiny. It has lived up to the hype, and then some. I have been wearing this pretty much every day since it landed in my hot little hands.
Chanel Blush Creme in Destiny is a matte tan-terracotta shade, which takes on a bit of peachiness when blended on my cheeks. It is quite similar to MAC Gingerly (which is a little more peach), and MUFE HD blush in PDA (which is a touch pinker). Comparison swatches below.
The Blush Cremes are a cream to powder finish and have a soft diffused matte look on the skin, similar to the Make Up For Ever HD Blushes. It can be worn sheer, or built up for a pigmented statement cheek. Lasting power is pretty good for a cream shadow on my skin- around 4hrs of wear before a touch up is required (doesn’t sound like much, but given that most cream blushes last under 2 hours before disappearing on my cheeks, 4hrs is good).
I am such a big fan of this blush. It is so versatile, and gives such a healthy glow with such a great finish.

BECCA has just released their exciting Sun Chaser Collection for Spring 2013- this collection is all about sheer washes of peach and bronze on the eyes, powdery pink cheeks, and juicy lips.
Headlining the collection is the new Sun Chaser Quad. BECCA Beach Tint in Guava, Ultimate Colour Gloss in Miami Vice, Mineral Blush in Songbird, Bronzing Skin Perfector, and Ultimate Mascara complete the Sun Chaser Spring 2013 look. I was lucky to be given a chance to try some of the products in the collection ahead of their release.

The MUFE HD microfinish blush in #8 PDA has been a staple in my makeup bag for quite some time now and it only occurred to me that I should review it after picked up the HD blush in Walk Of Shame recently (at Salon Melbourne trade show).
The MUFE HD blush formula is halfway between a liquid and a cream with a matte velvety finish. MUFE says that it combines ‘mattifying and reflecting powders to create a soft-focus effect’ and as a person with dry cheeks in the winter time I really love how this ‘soft focus’ finish hides any dry patches rather than accentuating them like some blushes (particularly powder) can. It really gives you the ‘lit from within’ glow.
PDA is a medium guava shade with a slight rusty undertone and high pigmentation. A really flattering, versatile colour that seems to suit every situation. You only need a small dot (approx 2-3mm across depending on how much colour intensity you like) for each cheek, so this product should last you a good while.
Walk of Shame is a light icy pink with sheer to medium pigmentation. I must admit I am a little disappointed with the pigmentation (after being so impressed with MUFE HD blush in PDA) – on my skin tone I feel I need to apply two layers for this to properly show up. It’s a pretty colour though, and gives you that MUFE velvety ‘lit from within’ glow. This shade would probably suit a lighter complexion than mine, and I kick myself for not picking up one of the other darker pinks that I had my eyes on instead.
