Illamasqua Surge Liquid Metal: a FOTD, review, and swatches.

I’m falling more and more in love with Illamasqua.

I picked up a few items in my last Sephora haul- their lipstick in Ignite, Ore pigment, and of course Surge liquid metal. Who can resist their amazing pigmentation, innovative textures, and lustworthy colour range?

Here is a wearable, work friendly FOTD featuring Surge Liquid Metal that I wore last week:

– MAC Mystery e/s mixed with a little bit of MAC Shadowy Lady e/s in crease.
– Illamasqua Surge Liquid metal applied on the lid and inner corners
– MAC Omega to blend out harsh lines above crease.

– MAC Posie Blushcreme

– Hourglass Prodigy Lip Gloss ‘Eden’

Onto the review!

Illamasqua Surge Liquid Metal is a warm silver with a subtle hint of light gold. It can be applied sheer to achieve a warm silver sheen or layered to get a full blown foiled metallic finish.

The Liquid Metal is a cream product, with a silky texture that glides easily onto the eye.

It doesn’t really dry down to a powder finish like some cream products (ie MAC Paint Pots, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows) so it tends to transfer if you accidentally touch your shadow, and crease a little throughout the day. I don’t really mind this- it still looks very pretty when creased, and I bring this product with me to retouch during the day and apply with fingers.

Price: $26 US at Sephora, $44 AUD at Myer Australia

I’ve you’ve been following me long enough, you won’t be surprised that I got yet another bright orange red lippy. I can’t seem to get enough of it, even though I can never really pull it off at work.
I will be doing a review and swatches of my new Illamasqua lipstick in Ignite in the next couple of days, but in the meantime here is a Face of the Day using this lippy.

– Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper (primer)
– MAC e/s Apres Ski (limited edition) all over lid
– Bobbi Brown Long-wear gel eye liner Black
– MAC Posie Blushcreme
– MAC bronzer in ‘Golden’ to contour
– Illamasqua ‘Ignite’ lipstick.

Chanel Fall 2011 inspired FOTD feat. the elusive Erika F.

Peter Philips blows me away everytime Chanel takes to the runways at Paris Fashion Week, and he’s done it again for Chanel Fall 2011.
He created a beautiful silvery blue/green smokey eye that perfectly compliments Karl Largerfeld beautiful post- apocalyptic vision for the show (all coal, smoke and moving shadows).
This is my take on the look:

Bobbi Brown event FOTD with D&G Classic Cream Lipstick in Ultra

About a week and a half ago, I attended a Bobbi Brown event in Sydney (which was fabulous and I will fill you all in very soon). As you might expect, I got up a little earlier than usual to put my full face of makeup on, even bothering to set it with my Laura Mercier translucent setting powder.
So of course, when I got there I was told to remove all my makeup.
Anyway, this is the FOTD that didn’t quite make it to the Bobbi Brown event.
-NARS Sheer Glow
-Laura Mercier Tranlucent Setting Powder (review here )
– MAC pigment in Jardin Aires used very lightly to highlight nose bridge and cupid’s bow
-MAC Studiosculpt concealor in NW 25 under eyes
– MAC Omega e/s all over lid, to crease
– Shiro Cosmetics loose vegan e/s in S.S. Anne on bottom part of lid and inner corner. used wet. (review and swatches )
– MAC liquidlast liner
– MAC Fleur Power blush on apples  (My blushes photos and swatches)
-MAC bronzer in Golden to contour
-MAC l/l in cherry
-Dolce and Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in ‘Ultra’  (swatches on Seeing Red: my red lipstick collection )

What makeup would you wear to a makeup brand PR event? Would you modify the look depending on which brand even you are attending?

Inglot bronzey eye with Pearl #421

I had the Alexander Wang Fall 2010 runway girls in mind when I decided to do a look with my Inglot bronze shadow. Unfortunately, I do not have the required cheekbones-that-could-cut-steel or the rockstar cool to really make this look but I had fun pretending!

I really wish I had some eye gloss though…

– Inglot eye shadow Pearl #421 on lid and lower lash line (for swatches and review click here)
– MAC cork in crease
– MAC mystery to darken outer third of top and bottom lids.

-MAC Bronzer in Golden to contour
-MAC blush in Gingerly lightly on apples of cheeks.

– A bit of concealor to neutralize lip colour
– clear gloss on top.

not really very exciting at the end of the day, turned out to be a work-safe look (which is great, because I’m heading straight to work LOL)
I’m really loving my Inglot shadows for their smooth texture, great pigmentation, and the fact that they stand up to an entire day’s wear without much fading.
