NOTD Butter London Marrow

Marrow was created by Nonie from Butter London for Vena Cava during NYFW 2010.
It is a greyish grape colour which I find looks very different in different lighting. In sunlight it is a fairly bright grape purple (almost pop art purple), at night time it looks dark greyish neutral purple. There is a very subtle fine silver shimmer that is visible in direct light which gives it an almost metallic finish.
This is not one of my favourite Butter polishes- I find that it’s a little too cartoonish to wear during the day, and often clashes with what I’m wearing. I do think it is a pretty colour, just not one that suits me.
If you’ve read my other nail polish posts, you’d probably realize that I’m a Butter fanatic. I do have OPI and Essie polishes, but I tend to not wear them because I prefer Butter colours and finishes. Maybe it’s something as silly as me just liking the luxuriously packaged bottle?

Butter London All Hail McQueen: Holographic taupe NOTD

Butter London named this polish after the remarkable genius, the late Alexander McQueen.

It is a lovely complex neutral- a beige taupe with fine gold and silver holographic shimmer. In direct sunlight you can even see green, blue, and yellow sparkles.

Like all of Butters polishes, it is ‘3 Free’, no Toluene, Formaldehyde, or DBP and is packaged luxuriously.

For full opacity you will need 3 coats, but I like a slight transparency with this polish so I usually use 2 coats. ?

I wanna be part of … Butter London ‘Fash Pack’: NOTD

Butter London nail polish in Fash Pack is an ultra trendy ‘greige’/putty/mushroom colour. It seems these days everyone is wearing this peculiar, theoretically unattractive colour on their nails, and I love it.

Butter London nailpolish Fash Pack
It is putty/greige/mushroom but it also has a super subtle gold vein running through the colour which stops it from looking totally flat.
(please excuse my fingers, I know my cuticles have seen better days)
First layer goes on streaky and but 2 layers (which I am wearing in the photos) work a treat and you end up with quite a nice finish.

I really like Fash Pack, and I think that it is a great staple to have, especially if you’re a working woman like me and can’t wear red talons every day.

NOTD: Butter London nail polish in ‘La Moss’

Butter London is UK boutique brand which is ‘3 free’ (no Formaldehyde, no Toluene, no BDP). Their catch phrase is ‘colour, not carcinogens’ which I just love.
They have a great colour selection which is sophisticated and fashion forward, and they have quickly taken over the runways (‘Marrow’ was seen on the models at the Vena Cava FW 2010 show, ‘Tea with the Queen’ at Yigal Azrouel, the matte topcoat was used on the models at ‘Alexander Wang’ S/S 2011).
‘La Moss’ has been my ‘go-to’ nail colour for almost a year. It is a vampy deepened wine colour which looks almost black at night, and seems to go with almost every outfit I can think of.
I have three coats on my nails.
The only issue I have with Butter is that they are so notoriously difficult to find in Australia. I get mine at Harrison’s pharmacy at Bondi or Rhodes but they don’t carry every shade.
Have you tried Butter London polishes? What do you think of them??

Pedicure of the week- OPI My Private Jet

This morning I decided a pedicure was long overdue. As I browsed the rack of polishes at the salon I came across this gorgeous shade called OPI My Private Jet.

Who can resist a name like that? A good pedicure should always make you feel like you’ve just been offered a glass of Moet as you arrive on your private plane headed for [insert your idea of a perfect destination] with George Clooney taking you to your seat.

with flash. excuse my ugly feet.
flash off

My Private Jet is sparkly yet has a sophisticated quality about it. It has dense holographic shimmer suspended in taupish charcoal base. I’m tempted to pick up a bottle for myself!
