Results thus far:
I’m a bit sad to say that my lips are still very dry. The dryness fluctuates with whether I am generally dehydrated (how much coffee/alcohol I consume) but overall they are pretty much as dry as they were before the detox.
My little pot of lip balm that Kirsten from lanolips made for me are the best at keeping my lips happy, but if I don’t use it for a day my lips go back to dry.
My new petro detox lip balms:
John Master’s Lip Calm $10.98
This is probably the nicest smelling lip product I have EVER come across, with it’s fresh lime and tangerine notes. I would say it is more of an lip treatment oil in stick form than a balm because when applied it feels like pure oils on the lips. Again, it doesnt stick around long enough (5 minutes tops) to make much of a difference to my lips, but this might be perfect for some.
Olea europaea (olive oil),* carthamus tinctorius (sunflower) oil,* beeswax,* simmondsia chinensis (jojoba oil),* linum usitatissimum (flax seed) oil,* borago officinalis (borage) oil,* rose mosqueta (rosehip) oil,* citrus reticulata (tangerine) peel oil,* citrus medica limonium (lemon) peel oil,* citrus aurantifolia (lime) oil*
I think the main thing is that I stay as hydrated as possible during the day. I’ve started taking B vitamin supplements as well, so hopefully that will help.
please note: Seven Balm was sent to me by Leah from http://www.addicted2lipbalm.com.au/ for consideration
This is why there are so many new products out now marketed as ‘petrolatum free’.
So I’ve thrown out all my tubes of Lucus Papaw scattered around the house (I found out only recently that Lucas Papaw is 96% petrolatum). It actually felt a little bit like trying to quit smoking and destroying all my lighters.

I have been cursed with dry chapped lips since childhood, and when I discovered Lucas Papaw it was a life changing moment (okay, so maybe just a wee bit dramatic) because it actually heals my chapped lip skin and hydrates deeply. Before Papaw it was just Chapstick, which did very little for my lips besides create a barrier against the wind so my lips don’t bleed.
So my monogamous relationship with Lucas Papaw has been going strong for a few years now but I thought it was time to find an alternative (I live in constant fear that some natural disaster would one day wipe Papaw off the face of the earth).
I’ve been wanting to try the EOS lip spheres and Lanolips 101 ointment for awhile. When I stumbled across the fabulous website Addicted To Lip Balm I couldn’t wait to try these babies for myself.
Before I go on I just want to make it clear that many lip balm/lip treatment products don’t work on my lips. Why? Who knows. My lip skin, parched as it is, just doesnt soak in many of the lip balms I have tried (Papaw is the only exception). So I am now officially on a quest to find lip balms that will work on me.
EOS Lip Spheres:
|EOS Lip Sphere in Lemon drop SPF 15|
Scent and Flavour:
-Summer fruits smells and tastes like sweet fruit salad. yum.
-Lemon drop smells and tastes just like lemon Starburst lollies.
Does it work?
Unfortunately not for my lips. They feel nice when the balm is on my lips, but 5 minutes later when it has worn off my lips are not much different from before I applied it. I’m pretty sure it’s my fussy lips rather than the product, because lots of people love this. BUGGER.
It’s a plus that Lemon Drop has the SPF, but I wish it wasn’t from Oxybenzene.
price: $6.35AUD at Addicted to Lip Balm
