Happy Hump Day everyone!
I hope you’ve all had a fantastic Easter weekend. I may have over indulged a lot a little over the long weekend, and am feeling like the Michelin Man at the moment. First world problems.
Moving right along- today we are worshipping the amazing Ethopian-born Liya Kebede (who I have adored for years). She has a startling beauty that makes her a runway and editorial favourite, and a great passion for giving back to the community where she grew up.
If you haven’t heard of the label ‘Lemlem’, it was launched by Liya Kebede in 2008. Here is an excerpt from the About page of the brand website www.lemlem.com:
Supermodel / actress and former World Health Organisation’s Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Liya Kebede discovered that traditional weavers in her native country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs due to a decline in local demand for their goods and wanted to do something about it. Recognizing the beauty, quality and historic significance of their work, Liya started Lemlem in 2007 as a way to inspire economic independence in her native country and to preserve the art of weaving
I love the fact that Kebede has more than just a great passion for preserving this aspect of Ethiopian culture- she has the drive and the business smarts to see things through. A solid business model that is sustainable in the long term and creates local jobs is much better than simply creating a charity, IMHO.

For the last 3 visits, I had been bringing with me a Naomi Watts photo which I had printed out. I would then show it to the hairdresser with a hopeful look in my eyes.
This is the photo.. (ok you’re not allowed to laugh at me! I know my hair looks nothing like this)
Okay, so now that you’re done laughing, here are some more beautiful images of Austraia’s golden girl. She was just beautiful in King Kong, as well as in The International (possibly the most boring film in the world).

Queen Rania of Jordon is a woman that I have endless admiration for. Not only does she have amazing style and poise (she constantly appears on Style.com) but she is one of the most powerful, influential women in the world.
She is passionate about improving education standards for children both in Jordon and worldwide and works tirelessly to make these changes. Beauty, brains, and passion.

Phoebe Philo knows exactly how to do understated chic, and her personal style is a perfect reflection of the fashion house Celine (which she is currently serving as Creative Director).
Her style is just amazing- it combines strength and intelligence with a feminine touch, and if I had to choose just one style to emulate for the rest of my days it would be hers.

I know most of my Worship Wednesday posts feature ladies that are 30+ (because that’s where I get most of my style and beauty inspiration) but Emma Watson has style and sophistication well beyond her 21 years.
Emma’s makeup at the NYC Premier of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is edgy yet chic. Samantha Chapman from Pixiwoo did a youtube tutorial of this makeup look here for those that are interested in recreating it.
