Worship Wednesdays: Queen Rania of Jordon

Queen Rania of Jordon is a woman that I have endless admiration for. Not only does she have amazing style and poise (she constantly appears on Style.com) but she is one of the most powerful, influential women in the world.

She is passionate about improving education standards for children both in Jordon and worldwide and works tirelessly to make these changes. Beauty, brains, and passion.

Here comes the sun… Ellis Faas Summer Set 2011

Ellis Faas Summer Set

Ellis Faas Summer Set

I was delighted to discover an Ellis Faas Summer Set in my mail a few weeks ago. The winter here has been long and bitterly cold so I was so glad to see a little glint of summer, even if it came in the form of makeup (who am I kidding- especially when it comes in the form of makeup!)

The Summer 2011 Gift set is a selection of products that aims to ‘create a bronzed summer look’

– Light E303
– Blush S303
– Glazed Lips L309

price:  US$85.00

availability: MECCA Cosmetica (Australia), Bergdorf Goodman (US)   www.ellisfaas.com (international)

note: last time I checked, shipping to Australia from the Ellis Faas website was $7.50.

E303 is a gorgeous bronze-gold with a highly metallic finish.

Although I have lots of bronze-gold eye products already, E303 is worlds apart from the products in my collection due to the intensity of the colour as well as it’s incredible wear time and resistance to both fading and creasing with no need for primer!

In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen anything perform on the eye quite like it.

The packaging is my only issue with this product. I find it a little awkward to use, especially if you are trying to blend the product on your eye with the applicator- the more you blend, the more product oozes out and you just end up with way too much. I think the best way to get around this problem is to apply the product with the brush applicator and then use a separate brush to blend.

note: the photo of E303 on my lids really does not do this product justice. The eyeshadow is 100x more intense in real life.

Kosmea Skin Clinic Organic Rose Hip Oil

Kosmea Skin Clinic Organic Rose Hip Oil is the first pure plant oil I tried, back in 2009, and this product singlehandedly started my passion for organic skin care. I remember the first time I used it- the idea of applying an oil to my face was completely alien to me, but when I saw the results I was hooked. In fact, I remember posting about Kosmea’s Rose Hip Oil when my blog was only 2 weeks old (awwww..) here.

Rose Hip Oil, when extracted properly, is a powerhouse of antioxidants, with  high levels of Vitamin A, Lycopene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Beta Carotene. This makes it great for fighting oxidative damage, healing acne scarring, and bumping up collagen production.

I like to use it straight after a shower, when my skin is maximally receptive to treatment. After massaging about 4-5 drops into my skin, the oil absorbs very quickly and I’m left with glowy supple skin. The best bit is waking up the next morning to beautifully plumped skin. I use it about 3-4x a week.

Kosmea Skin Clinic Organic Rose Hip Oil

The Rose Hip Oil itself is a deep orange colour, and has a wheat-ish herbaceous smell. I know some do find the smell a little too strong for their liking but I really don’t mind it at all, particularly since it’s a good sign that the oil has been minimally processed (if you buy a Rose Hip Oil that has no smell, it has been deodorised and probably gone through harsh extraction processes which destroy the nutrients in the oil).

Because the antioxidants and nutrients in the Rose Hip Oil does tend to react with sunlight and air over time, I prefer to buy the smaller 20mL bottle and replenish my supply more often to ensure freshness. The 20mL bottle lasts me about 6 months.

Have you used this liquid gold?

note: this product was sent to me by PR.

Taupe and Tangerine- FOTD feat. Fyrinnae Beholder eyeshadow and Illamasqua Ignite

Face of the day with Fyrinnae Beholder eyeshadow and Illamasqua Ignite lipstick

Face of the day with Fyrinnae Beholder eyeshadow and Illamasqua Ignite lipstick

It was Taupe love at first swatch.

When I ordered Fyrinnae Beholder loose eyeshadow it was as an afterthought because my order was initially just for the Pixie Epoxy glitter base from Fyrinnae. Now I’m seriously considering getting a backup of Beholder, even though there is enough in the jar to last me several taupe lifetimes.

I’ll be swatching and reviewing Beholder, as well as the other Fyrinnae shadows that I ordered in a post sometime next week but for now here is the FOTD that I wore to the performance of Don Quixote.

Makeup breakdown:

Eyes:

– UDPP

– MAC Omega e/s in crease

– Fyrinnae ‘Beholder’ loose eye shadow

– MAC Mystery eyeshadow to deepen outer V

Cheeks:

–  MAC Peaches powder blush

– MAC Gingerly powder blush

Lips:

-Illamasqua ‘Ignite’ lipstick
