Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Distinction: Review, Swatches

Chanel Impertinence Lip Gloss-5

I purchased the Rouge Allure Gloss in Distinction (rrp $52 AUD) as I was going through Duty Free last year. I’m a sucker for a glossy berry lip, and even though I have a number of nearly identical berry toned lip products– there’s always room in my heart for one more.

Chanel Distinction Rouge Allure Gloss Lip Swatch   Chanel Distinction Rouge Allure Gloss Review

Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Distinction is a pigmented cool berry shade with a juicy gloss finish on initial application. It is almost opaque in 2 layers and the pigmentation intensifies with each reapplication through the day.

I feel like it is at it’s most gorgeous when first applied and then loses it’s glossiness quite quickly- becoming more of a cross between lipstick texture and stain on the lips. The product still looks reasonably nice once the shine wears off but what initially drew me to Distinction was the dimensional glossy colour- so it’s a little unfortunate that this aspect of the product is so fleeting. Wear time overall is about 3 hours.

Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss Distinction is neither drying nor moisturising. As with many dark colours,  (exceptions to this include YSL Glossy Stain in Brun Glace, and at the other end of the price point spectrum- Face Of Australia Lip Paint in Very Berry) it can sometimes settle into lip lines if your lips are dry- so prep lips beforehand if you want this to sit nicely.

Overall- it is a stunning colour on initially application but becomes a bit blah after about 15 mins. For the luxe price point I would hesitate to repurchase

Tag, I’m It! 5 Product Makeup FOTD

5 Product Makeup FOTD with Shine Caresse Bonnie, Chanel Destiny

Chanel Destiny, Shine Caresse Bonnie FOTD

Hello from Canberra!

I was tagged some time ago (we won’t mention how long because I’m a little ashamed of how backlogged my posts have been) by the lovely Tine to do a 5 Makeup Products post. The challenge is to pick 5 products, and only 5- to create a makeup look. I was surprised at how difficult this was for me to do! Foundation, concealor, eyeshadow primer, one or two neutral eyeshadows, eyeliner, brows, mascara, blush, and a lippy- that’s bare bones for me and that’s already double the number of products for the challenge.

Anyway, we got there in the end. I’m better at being minimalistic and using multitasking products since the last month or so of travelling and living out of a suitcase.

1. Le Blush Crème De Chanel- Destiny

2. NARS Sheer Glow in Fiji

3. L’Oreal Shine Caresse in Bonnie

4. MAC eyebrow pencil in Stud.

5. L’Oreal False Lash Telescopic mascara

My turn to tag – Taylor from My Lucite Dreams, Kelly from A Blog of Vain Pleasures, Jess from The Belle Lumiere, Larie from Eye Heart It, Karima from Shameless Fripperies. Have fun, ladies!

My Chanel lipstick collection: photos and swatches

Chanel Rouge Coco Rouge Noir, Rouge Allure Evocation, Rouge Coco Mademoiselle, Rouge Coco Gabrielle, Rouge Coco Ruban Rose, Rouge Coco Shine Boy

I love Chanel lipsticks. Chanel creates some of the best lipstick textures out there, and an incredibly flattering colour range thanks to their amazing Global Creative Director for makeup- Peter Philips.

If I could afford it, I would buy out the entire range of Rouge Allures and Rouge Cocos-  but at $50+ a pop for one of these in Australia, and $30+ in the US, I’m forced to keep a small but loved collection of Chanel lipsticks.

Chanel Rouge Coco Rouge Noir- semi opaque satin finish deep blackened burgundy/brown. Dark and edgy, but so chic. $30 US/ $54 AU

Chanel Rouge Allure Evocation- the perfect semi sheer MLBB peach with subtle fine gold microshimmer. One of my favourite lippys ever, and I’m still not over the fact that I didn’t buy backups (it’s sadly discontinued).

Chanel Rouge Coco Mademoiselle- creamy rose pink with a subtle brown undertone. Semi-opaque. I love how this makes me look instantly polished but never overdone.
