‘Lust, Caution’ inspired OCC Lip Tar custom mixes + FOTDs

I watched ‘Lust, Caution’ by Ang Lee for the second time a few weeks ago, and I became a little obsessed with the beautiful lip colours used on the characters in the film ( you never stop being s beauty blogger. Deep terra-cotta reds, muted corals, and scarlets adorned the lips of the wealthy female characters in Ang Lee’s vision of 1940s Shanghai.

After going through my lipstick stash, I realized that I don’t own a pigmented terra-cotta/rust red (20 red lipsticks clearly isn’t enough). Rather than simply purchasing another one, I thought it would be fun to have another play with customizing my own with OCC Lip Tars, especially since I’ve been itching to use the new empty lip gloss applicators I purchased from Lehved earlier in the year).

This is what I came up with:

I found these empty applicators for $2.00 at Lehved.com.au , and they are seriously the best thing since sliced bread. The packaging is similar to the Ellis Faas pens, Stila Lip Glazes, etc and you simply turn the base to dispense product into the inbuilt brush.

I basically mix my Lip Tars, load up about 2mL into a syringe (you can get empty sterilized syringes at any pharmacy ), and then inject my custom lip product into the empty applicator. Then I simply pop on the brush head part of the applicator and it’s done!

I suppose I ought to give the custom mix colours names to make identification easier, so for lack of more imaginative names- I’m going to call the terracotta red colour ‘Lust’, and the terracotta coral colour ‘Caution’.
